Brent plays tuba in Encore and has performed with the group since 2003. He currently serves as Director of Bands at Woodbury High School. He holds a bachelor's degree in music education from St. Olaf College '02 and masters in conducting from Southern Oregon University '07 as a part of the American Band College. Brent's professional affiliations include MENC: The National Association for Music Education, Minnesota Music Educators Association, Minnesota Band Directors Association, and Phi Meta Mu. Brent and his wife Sara met playing in Encore. Sara is also a music educator in South Washington County Schools. They currently reside in Woodbury, MN.

Patricia Capistran - Secretary

Pat is a retired registered nurse. She plays clarinet with the North Suburban Concert Band. Pat's other interests include gardening, cooking and knitting. She also serves as the greeter for the Encore concerts.

Nicholas Ellison

Nicholas teaches beginner band in Edina Public Schools.  He graduated from St. Olaf College with a degree in music and management, a graduate of the Johnson-Auge School for Music Management.  He is a graduate of the American Band College of Sam Houston State University and studied music education at the University of Minnesota.  He has played trumpet with Encore since 2006.  He lives in Minneapolis with his wife, Melissa Morey.

Jeff Funk

Jeff graduated with a B.S. in music education from North Dakota State University and began his teaching career overseas on the pacific island of Saipan. After 2 years of teaching, traveling, scuba diving, performing with the Guam Symphony and as a solo guitarist and happy hour entertainer, he left the tropical island paradise and returned to Minnesota to pursue more performance opportunities. While working as a band director in Lakeville he completed a M.S. in education from St. Mary’s University, was a member of the Minnesota Jazz Orchestra and has been with Encore since 2002. Jeff retired from music education after 5 years in Lakeville and started working as an IT Consultant for Mytech Partners, a Minneapolis IT Consulting firm. He is still working as an IT consultant with Mytech and will never stop being a musician because trombone players never stop, they just change position.

Kim Lee

Kim Lee is a freelance flutist and flute teacher in the Twin Cities area. She has a BFA Flute Performance degree from UW-Milwaukee having studied with Robert Goodberg. Kim has been a performing member in the Encore Wind Ensemble since 2009. In addition to Encore, she often plays in community bands and other ensembles in the Twin Cities. Kim is a member of the National Flute Association and Upper Midwest Flute Association. Besides music, her other interests are baking, crafts, gardening, caring for her many pets and spending time with her two young daughters.

Maggy Otte

Maggy plays oboe with Encore. She studied Urban and Regional Planning at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs and currently works as a grant writer for CommonBond Communities, a nonprofit affordable housing developer.  She lives in South Minneapolis with her husband and two rabbits. 

Jan Possehl Scholl

Jan has played in the clarinet section of Encore Wind Ensemble since 1998. She is a graduate of Concordia College and Catholic University of America and was a member the United State Army Band, "Pershing's Own", in Washington, DC for 22 years. Presently, she plays clarinet throughout the Twin Cities, teaches elementary band in Forest Lake and is the clarinet instructor at the University of Northwestern, St. Paul. She has two grown children and lives in White Bear Lake with her husband Jeffrey Scholl.
