Haley Cramer, flute

Haley Cramer has performed with Encore Wind Ensemble since 2015. She studied under Immanuel Davis and Julia Bogorad-Kogan at the University of Minnesota where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance. She also holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, and currently works at Artspace Projects where she helps to develop affordable live/work housing for artists across the United States.

Kristen Cooper, oboe

Kristen studied oboe under Rhadames Angelucci and plays both with Encore Wind Ensemble and the Minnesota Symphonic Winds, as well as at her church. She has performed in the Czech Republic with the American Spring Music Festival and the Brno Organ Festival. She works as a community college counselor, assisting students with academic, career, and personal transitions.

Maggy Otte, oboe

Maggy Otte is a board and performing member of the Encore Wind Ensemble and joined the group in it's 2013-2014 season. She earned a BA in Urban Studies and a Masters of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Minnesota. Maggy is also a pianist, former radio DJ, and ordained minister in the Universal Life Church. She currently works in community development at Hope Community, Inc. and lives in South Minneapolis with her husband and two rabbits, Griz and Dotcom.

Ariel Detwiler, bassoon

Ariel Detwiler is currently finishing the third and final year of her DMA in bassoon at the University of Minnesota, studying with Norbert Nielubowski. She also holds a Masters degree in Bassoon from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music studying with William Ludwig, and a Bachelors degree in bassoon from DePauw University. An active freelance musician and woodwind doubler in the twin cities, Ariel performs in various bands, orchestras, musical pits, and collaborates in many chamber music groups, including Duo 231 and the Bdote 7 reed quintet. Ariel is no stranger to the stage-- she won the DePauw University Concerto competition in 2010, and in 2018 she won the second annual Band Concerto competition at the University of Minnesota. With a lifelong passion for music education, she teaches her own private studio, instructs the Woodwind Techniques course at the University of Minnesota, and is the adjunct professor of bassoon at Dordt University.

Jan Possehl Scholl, clarinet

Jan Possehl Scholl is an active player and teacher in the metro area. She has taught instrumental music in metro area public schools and is presently teaching clarinet at the University of Minnesota and the University of Northwestern St. Paul. Prior to coming to the Twin Cities, she was a 22 year member of The United States Army Band, “Pershing’s Own” in Washington, DC.

Dennis Lindsay, alto saxophone

Dennis Lindsay is an educator and performer in the Twin Cities.  He studied the concert saxophone with John Sampen and Frederick Hemke, receiving his Masters degree in saxophone performance from Northwestern University.  He has performed both nationally and internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. An active public school educator, he has served as the Director of Bands at Stillwater Area High School in Stillwater, MN since 2008. Mr. Lindsay lives in Hudson, WI with his wife, Nancy McMillan and his two daughters, Erica and Tatiana.

Teresa Herbert, horn

Teresa Herbert has performed with Encore Wind Ensemble since 2007.  She earned her Bachelors degree in Music Education in 2005 from Maranatha Baptist University and then completed her Masters degree in Horn Performance in 2007 from the University of Minnesota.  Teresa has studied under Bernhard Scully and Herbert Winslow.  She currently teaches music at Woodcrest Baptist Academy and, during the summers, enjoys teaching and performing overseas.

Jeff holds a bachelors in music education from North Dakota State University and a Masters in Education from St. Mary’ University and has been an active member of Encore since 2005. Jeff left teaching in 2005, but music is still a part of his life. He performs with the St. Paul Civic Symphony, Bloomington Symphony and other groups around the Twin Cities
